General Mission

Poverty Monitoring Center (PMC) is the project financially supported by OXFAM GB humanitarian organization and carried out by the Association of Young Economists and its partners.
Duration of the project covers the period from: 30 November 2001 to 30 November 2002. The main aim of PMC is to support civic engagement in the; implementation and preparation of the Poverty Reduction Strategy.
For the future PMC plans to continue its activity in the way that to monitor the tasks foreseen in the State Program for the Poverty Reduction.

Activity Directions

Within the framework of the Poverty Reduction Strategy PMC operates over below described directions:

• Systemizing and presenting proposals of non governmental organizations over State Program for Poverty Reduction to the state authorities
  
• Establishing round tables, conferences and trainings
  
• Preparing and publishing articles in the media, giving interviews
  
• Preparing information bulletins
  
• Preparing appropriate TV & Radio programs
  
• Lightening Poverty Reduction Strategy at the internet and disseminating appropriate informa-tion by e-mail.
  
• Establishing monthly meetings and consultations with the project participants
  
• Analyzing, systemizing proposals over Poverty Reduction Strategy and presenting them to the official authorities
  
• Studying world practice of struggle against poverty
  
• Collecting statistic information over social - economic state of the country

Organizational Aspects

In general Poverty Monitoring Center project is coordinated by The Association of Young Economists (AYE). AYE carries out the project in partnership with: Potential Union of Sumgayit Specialists, Union of Internally Displaced People's Communities, Aran Regional Development Organization.
At the same time, according to the project AYE closely cooperates with the state work groups engaged into the preparation process of the State Program for Poverty Reduction, local and foreign NGOs, International Financial Organizations, independent experts, mass media means.
PMC is also involved into the preparation of an other strategy foreseen by the government: Sustainable Human Development Strategy. Within the project one of the experts appointed by the state authorities and working over the strategy is supported both technically and financially by PMC.
