Projects
implemented by AYE
The
last project of AYE is organization of the training on "Budget
process and civil society".
1. Discussion clubs, covering approximately 110 themes on
social and economic development problems in Azerbaijan has
been organised since the January of 1994.
2. The republican scientific and practical conference, devoted
to the themes of "National economy formation problems;
was held in May, 1995. The conference was organised in the
hall of Academy of Sciences and the representatives of governmental
and non-governmental organisations participated there. 25
reports about the important problems of Azerbaijan's economy
were heard at the conference and submitted theses were published
in a booklet form in 100 copies.
3. A number of interesting TV programs were prepared with
the active participation of AYE.
4. AYE is performing on the radio programs as well. The
members of AYE expressed interesting views about privatization,
antiinflationary policy, poverty reduction, management reforms,
land reform and other issues in the "Gandjlik"
and "Igtisadiyat" radio programs.
5. AYE's members are the authors of 173 articles published
in the press. These articles were devoted to the unemployment,
population's living standards, industrial problems, inflation,
privatization, bank reforms and were published in the well-known
papers. The newspapers are kept in AYE's archives.
6. AYE actively participated in all scientific seminars
and discussions organised by governmental and NGO institutions.
7. AYE is actively participating in the formation of a legislative
base of the reforms. For example, the projects of the laws
on "Free economic zones", "Foreign economic
activity basis", "Checks and bills", "Limited
companies" were prepared by AYE and submitted to Milly
Medjlis (Parliament). These projects were prepared through
the initiative of AYE itself and weren't sponsored by any
organisation.
8. "Personnel Bank of Young Economists" has been
founded by AYE. This bank partially provides economic institutions
and structures with young specialists on relevant fields.
However, this work is difficult to make effectively, because
of limited technical and financial opportunities.
9. The books called "Economy of Azerbaijan and market
relations", "Basics of Economic Knowledge"
have been published by AYE.
10. AYE in cooperation with the Baku Asia University and
the Economic Institute of Academy of Sciences Azerbaijan
held a conference called "Problems of state regulation
of economic processes in the transition period" in
April, 1999.
11. AYE had worked out a number of projects and received
grants. For example, AYE has been awarded with a grant from
the Soros Foundation for the project called "Economic
education at secondary schools" for the period from
June 1998 to December 1998
12. AYE has been awarded with a grant from Chevron for the
project called "Preparation of a book on economics"
for the period from January 2000 to December 2001
13. For the period of 2001-2002, AYE has established a new
program at Lider TV called "Economic monitoring"
and have prepared 20 programs thus have than been broadcasted
14. Since November 2001 AYE implements the Poverty
Monitoring Center project, financed by OXFAM
GB. The projected will be completed in November 2002.
15. Experts of AYE participate in the preparation of UNDP's
annual Human Development Report for Azerbaijan, different
proposals.

17. The Association of Young Economists and the Union of
Economist Journalists held training with the Center for
Budget and Policy Priorities (USA) on "Budget process
and civil society", from 16 to 18 May 2003.
Training was held within the International Budget Project
financed by Eurasia Foundation and Open Society Institute.
